"The Golden Hammer"

The river bends are serpentine, regular, not without their tricks.  For the same reason a child on the end of the line in crack-the-whip flies sideways, so too moves the current fastest on the outside.  As that fast water races around it undercuts the outer bank, causes trees to topple in the water, creates the biggest dangers of this trip, what George calls, keepers and sweepers. Sweepers are trees fallen across the water that'll knock you out of the boat; keepers are trees fallen down into the water that'll keep you, held down by the current, held down and drowned and, no shit, up here they may never find your body.

"Sara Jane Tried to Shoot the President"
When Ady was born, Sara Jane helped make the bassinet.  Then she tried to kill the president.  After years of having this woman float around the periphery of her family, Ady is finally meeting her.  Through metal detectors, surly prison guards, and hallways made of barbed wire, Ady hopes to make a good impression on the attempted assassin with a penchant for cross stitch.

"A Fatal Step"
Tonight, Sara's got it all figured out.  A silk nighty, a couple of candles, and that perfume that drives him absolutely wild.  Our femme fatale is poised on her velvet chaise lounge in full seduction mode, but Frank he just walks on by.  She panics.  Something is terribly wrong, but what is it?  Is it the inevitable plight of the long term relationship?  Has his career in podiatry lost its footing?  Sometimes a dame has to take matters into her own hands, but good intentions can lead to bad things.

"Wiseguy. Rake. Druggist. Dad"

Some folks say you shouldnt Google yourself. But nobody said anything about Googling ones father. So when Lous wife did a search on his long-deceased dad, a newspaper article half a century old appeared, telling a story Lou had never heard. A securities heist in suburban Pittsburgh? An arrest by the FBI in Brussels? Of a pharmacist from Queens? Connecting the dots will surely require more than a click of the Im Feeling Lucky button.
