JAZZ LATINO @ GALERIA WEST with Percussionist NERIO E. MATHEUS & THE LATINEO BAND
Image a cozy concert venue where, on the last Friday of each month you are surrounded by inspiring fine art as you enjoy an intimate concert experience with the best of Latin jazz & more from NYC and beyond. Teatro Si brings to you the popular monthly Jazz Latino @ Galeria West concert series. On Friday, July 29, 2016 at 7:30pm the series continues with accomplished Latin jazz percussionist Nerio E. Matheus and The Latineo Band. The featured band members include David Alastre on keyboards & vocals, Julian Chang on guitar & vocals, and Maikel Reyes on flute as they take the stage at the unique Galeria West Art & Music Gallery, located at 111 Quimby Street in downtown Westfield, NJ
Nerio E. Matheus grew up surrounded by music in his native country of Venezuela. At the young age of ten, he began playing music with family and friends in his hometown of Maracaibo in the State of Zulia. Music became an integral part of his life and he was expressly interested in the drums. He took every opportunity to play and learn, drawing his inspiration from his father and grandfather and many close friends. He played in local festivals and participated in numerous school band competitions. His passion for percussion developed and continues to this day. The lesson he learned through music is to always celebrate life and now he brings that joy to many others through his music.
Nerio has spent the last 20 years polishing his percussion skills and has performed nationally in the USA and internationally with various cultural bands and performers. He has perfected the integration of the powerful Latin rhythms into the American music genre. This added dimension has been well received by music loving audiences at his concerts.
Also enjoy the current art exhibition at Galeria West Art & Music Gallery. The mixed media fine art works by artist EVS are on display along with select fine art works by local & international artists.
