Dance For A Cause

The Glass City Swing Band will be having a dance, "Dance For A Cause," on October 15, 2016 at the Jeannette American Legion in Jeannette, PA where a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Glass City Swing Band. My sister (co-founder and musical director) and myself carry limb-girdle muscular dystrophy and are supporting their efforts to find a cure. GCSB will also benefit from the dance to help with bigger projects related to our mission that are planned in the near future. One such project that's in the discussion stages is a disabilities awareness fair and also two concerts; one in November, 2016 to honor Billy May and one in April, 2017 honoring Ella Fitzgerald.

Glass City Swing Band Incorporated is located in Westmoreland County Pennsylvania in the City of Jeannette, formally known as The Glass City. We are an 18-piece big band performing music of the 1930's and 1940's mainly. Our mission is to promote community oriented music programs, promote musical education and historical music programs and to promote disabilities awareness through music. GCSB was formed in 2009 and became an incorporated 501(c)(3) in July of 2015. The band's members are made up of professional musicians, music educators, retired music educators, and community musicians, some of which have been performing together for over 30 years. Our performances together gives the band members a great feeling of self worth and also provides our audience with quality performances.

Tickets for this event are $20 presale and $25 at the door. The price of the ticket will include hors d'oeuvres, an hour of free dance lessons and great entertainment. There will also be a 50/50, silent auction and a cash bar. The event is from 6 pm - 10 pm with hors d'oeuvres starting at 6 pm and a free dance lesson starting shortly after. Music starts at 7 pm.
