Planes on Paper, Ira Wolf & Jonah Sissoyev
Planes on Paper, Jonah Sissoyev (Portland), and Ira Wolf (Nashville) sharing songs and stories in the round. This event is limited to 40 seats, and if you're reading this, you're invited!
What's secret: The location. It's beautiful, it's in downtown Yakima, and will have booze. We'll tell you the exact address by email, two days before the show.
What's not secret: Planes on Paper, Yakima's most celebrated band, will be taking a night off the road to share a night of music with Ira Wolf and Jonah Sissoyev. Here's what some other folks think about Planes on Paper:
"The songs played by Planes on Paper have contemplation at their core. As heard on the Yakima duo's sole EP, Ruins, Navid Eliot and Jen Borst use delicate harmonies, well-wrought lyricism, and a deep understanding of pop songcraft to patiently explore ideas and landscapes that bloom from banal to unforgettable." Mark Baumgarten, Seattle Weekly
"There has been no shortage of bands that sound like Planes on Paper in the last 10 years of Seattle music, which makes it simultaneously delightful and frustrating when one of them is clearly a full head taller than the others." - Sean Nelson, The Stranger - And here's what Ira and Jonah have to Say for themselves:
Ira: An independent new-folk singer/songwriter, Ira Wolf uses her Americana melodies and honest lyrics to connect on an intimate and vulnerable level with her audience, and is inspired by each new experience her adventurous life has given her thus far.
After briefly studying in her home state at the University of Montana in Missoula, and Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ira left school in 2012 in pursuit of something bigger. She then traveled for a year, exploring Europe and Australia, writing, recording, and learning about the world and herself.
In the summer of 2013, as a result of a coin toss, Ira's journey led her to make a home in Nashville, Tennessee where she lived in her car for a month until she landed a part-time job as a nanny. After finding a place to live and settling in, Ira spent much of her time collaborating with some of Nashville's top writers and musicians, and set out on her very first tour up the east coast and throughout part of the Midwest in May, 2014.
Following that first tour, Ira worked tirelessly through the summer to release her debut album, 'Fickle Heart' in September 2014 and began touring full-time. She continued touring throughout the next year across a majority of the U.S., and part of Europe, and took a month off in April 2015 to travel solo through Southeast Asia.
Jonah: Well, Jonah does't have much to say. But check out his music for everything you really need to know.
