Cabinet
Named as Rolling Stone's 10 New Artists You Need to Know last summer, and a sound described like Old Crow Medicine Show at their most jammy, and the Grateful Dead at their most country, Cabinet is high-energy newgrass with an eclectic string-based sound.
Their latest album, Celebration, lives up to its name, a propulsive ritual of a record that shows off their 10-year chemistry and songs filled with luscious harmonies, grand and euphoric in scope and sound, the depth of which are accentuated with the powerful banjo picking by Pappy and finesse fiddle mastery by Kopec. The instrumentation may evoke the hills of Appalachia, but the vibe is more like the valleys of Neptune. relix.
