Hishi Shibari: Diamond Patterns in Kinbaku

Hishi Nawa/Hishi Shibari--the 'diamond pattern' is beautiful geometry in rope: visually compelling, and sensually comfortable on the body.

In this three-hour workshop, we'll learn how several different ways to create this tie, both for decoration and sensation (leaving the arms free) and restraint play (binding the arms as part of the tie). Most importantly, by examining the principles behind creating diamond patterns, you'll leave the workshop able to create your own new designs.

Prerequisite: You should come to this course with basic familiarity with rope bondage, including the single-column tie. This workshop is definitely appropriate for all genders, sexual orientations, and body types!

To ensure personal attention to each participant, class size will be limited to 20 people. Don't have a partner? We'll do our best to pair up solo students.

Due to to the intricate nature of these ties, there may not be time for both people in a duo to practice the tie on each other--do make sure you are versed in the basics of rope bondage, so you have time. Finally, due to the small class size, early registration is strongly recommended!

Clothing & Equipment: Please bring 3-4 25'-30' pieces of bondage rope, 5-6mm in diameter, and a blanket or yoga mat to sit on. Don't have any rope? We'll have a bit of extra rope for folks that need it to use. You should wear clothing comfortable to tie in. Note: All of the tying in this class will be done with both people standing, but it's good to have a place to sit.

About the Instructor:
Jonathan is a Seattle-based rope artist who performs on-stage theatrical bondage acts, ties for photo shoots, and teaches Japanese-style bondage with his partner Oryx. Together, they run the website SeattleShibari.Com, and are committed to bringing the joy, art, and intimacy of Japanese-style rope bondage to the community.
