Talk + Tour at St. Paul's Episcopal Church

Docomomo WEWA launches its Modern Sacred Spaces series with a tour and presentation at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Seattle's lower Queen Anne neighborhood.

Built in 1962 (the same year as the Seattle World's Fair), the church was designed by the firm of Steinhart Theriault and Anderson. This church, a beautiful study in light, geometry and structure seems unusually modest from the exterior. Grand in form, it seems to almost disappear in its surrounding urban environment. However, its grandeur is fully expressed to anyone who steps inside.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church will be open to view from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 23. At 1:30 pm, architect Susan Jones, of atelierjones, will speak about the recent renovation project's design and challenges. Members of the congregation will be present to speak about the experience of celebrating inside this space.

The address is 15 Roy Street, Seattle, WA 98109. Enter through the main Roy Street entrance. On-street parking only.

Tickets for this event are available for purchase online through Brown Paper Tickets.
Cost: $10 (if purchased online) or $15 at the door. A special discount for students: only $5 online or at the door. All tour fees go toward future programs.
