Tina DeVaron: Friends and Family
On March 24th, singer-songwriter Tina deVaron will return to Pangea to perform music from her latest recording, Tuckermans Ravine (2015, IMAH Records), as well as new compositions and works from her previous recordings,"If Mama Aint Happy" and "Water Over Stones". deVaron is especially buzzed to be joined by two songwriters she describes as "favorite inspirations": Emily Angell and Nick Lerangis (deVaron's son), who are the engineer and producer, respectively, of Tuckermans Ravine, and pivotal in bringing the recording to life. deVaron is a vivid storyteller whose diverse fan base is drawn to her themes of family, creativity and a woman's place in the world. Her talent crosses musical boundaries with effortlessness, jazz roots merging with the lyrical to produce music one might describe as a polyamorous relationship between Bonnie Raitt and Jane Siberry. A creator of indelible melodies and lyrics, in deVaron's hands the temporal becomes magical, memories emerge and reconfigure, and the exceptional seems comforting and close. Her songs have been performed by Tony Award-winning performers, at the White House, in swank rooms like Bemelmans Bar (where she has held court for eleven years), and on the small screen.

Emily Angell, whose songwriting has been described as smart and her style as urban-folk, fuses raw lyrics and powerful vocals in her acoustic guitar-driven sophomore EP, "Let Go". She has been compared to Alanis Morissette, Jewel and Edie Brickell. In 2016, Angell will embark on a US tour with emerging country star Jessica Lynn.

Nick Lerangis is a New Haven based electric guitarist, songwriter, producer and composer, who writes music inspired by 1970s West-Coast folk rock. His singing is influenced by Jeff Buckley, Jack White, and Johnathan Meiburg. Lerangis plays with his band, Evening Darling, all over the Eastern USA, and has composed for theater and been selected to Ars Nova Theater's ANT Fest.

"Water Over Stones is the soundtrack of my life." New York Times columnist, Lisa Belkin

"If Mama Aint Happy is brilliant, funny, and wise." Anne LaMott, author of Help Thanks Wow

"She makes you revisit places you had forgotten as well as those you thought you knew so well. This is the role of an artist."
Tulis McCall, The Front Row Center
