The Plastic Age, starring Clara Bow, Donald Keith, and Gilbert Roland in his film debut. The film was based on a best-selling novel from 1924 of the same name, written by Percy Marks, a Brown University English instructor who chronicled the life of the fast-set of that university. One of the best of Clara Bow's pre-Paramount vehicles, The Plastic Age is a satire of college life, circa 1925. Bow is cast as vivacious co-ed Cynthia Day, the sweetheart of Prescott College. Cynthia's own sweetheart is handsome campus football hero Hugh Carver (Donald Keith), who arrives at Prescott determined to make his parents proud of him. But the pervading "party on" atmosphere at the college threatens to erode Hugh's values -- and even worse, begins to affect his performance on the football field.

Keep an eye out for young Clark Gable as an extra in the frat-house scenes.
