Red Squirrel Chasers
The Red Squirrel Chasers - Stephanie Coleman from Brooklyn on fiddle, Jim Collier from Raleigh on mandolin, along with Jim Nelson & Dedo Norris from St. Louis on guitar and bass - blend their diverse musical influences and interests seamlessly into a new, and yet, familiar sound. They have merged their decade of experience playing dances together with their common interest in the musical territory occupying that hazy borderline between the old-time string band sounds of the '20s & '30s and the lonesome bluegrass sounds that emerged in the 1940s. The results -- spare melody lines, seamless vocal and instrumental textures, and a streamlined sound.
