Saving Jamaica Bay tells the story of how one communityled by a family with roots in the area stretching back more than 100 yearsfought the government and overcame Hurricane Sandy to clean up and restore the largest open space in New York City, which had become a dumping ground for garbage, sewage, sludge and bullet-riddled mobsters. Narrated by actress Susan Sarandon, the lm includes interviews with the com- munity activists who led the ght, and state and city of cials. The lm also symbolizes efforts to preserve nature, combat climate change and invest in neglected national parks. Directed by David Sigal. Produced and written by Daniel Hedrick.
