Jan Krist and Friends Tribute to Joni Mitchell - The Early Show - 4:00 p.m.
If you've been a fan of Jan Krist, you probably know that she loves the music of Joni Mitchell. Joni was one of her early musical influences. We're lucky because she also loves to sing Joni's music. For this show Jan is inviting some of her musical friends to join her in an evening of paying tribute to the legendary singer and songwriter. Joining Jan for the early show will be Jim Bizer, Stewart Francke and Alan Finkbeiner.
Jan Krist is a Detroit-area songwriter who has garnered lots of national attention. In 1991 Jan made a splash at the Kerrville Folk Festival. In addition to being a four-time Detroit Music Award winner, Entertainment Weekly praised her "breathtaking vocal leaps" and said that she "makes soul-searching more enjoyable than it has any right to be." Billboard Magazine called her "Unreservedly recommended" (She) "Writes songs of failure and grace as seen from the perspective of a mid-western soul; songs with " lyrical intelligence" The Phantom Tollbooth
