"It was not the thorn bending to the honeysuckles, but the honeysuckles embracing the thorn."  Emily Bronte

A set of toy soldiers leads to a fantasy world of armies, heroes, fugitives, outlaws and publishers as the Bronte siblings created imaginary worlds. Their devotion to writing would lead to such classics as Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall among many other works.

Answering a publisher's question "Are there no stockings to darn, no purses to make, no braces to embroider," the sisters created the pseudonyms Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell to overcome the prejudice of being female in a male-dominated writers' world.

Wuthering follows these women as they write and dream. We see them as young children, as older adults, and through the eyes of their characters. We see the hidden treasures in their hearts, the secrets kept and the spirits that soar through their words and actions.

"The human heart has hidden treasures, In secret kept, in silence sealed; The thoughts, the hopes, the dreams, the pleasures, Whose charms were broken if revealed." - Wuthering explores the life and art of the Bronte sisters. The play dramatizes correspondence, poetry and the fiction writing of Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte.

Wuthering stars local high school students Annika Godura, Megan Irwin, and Auden Yurman as the sisters when they are young, with Cynthia Mazzant, Elaine Meder-Wilgus and Lissa Ramirez covering the older sisterrs. Mike Waldhier plays several roles as the "Bronte" men  both real and imagined.

The valentine's day dinner-theatre production of Wuthering marks the third valentine's day collaboration between Tempest Productions and Webster's Bookstore Café following last year's production of Letters Home and the inaugural production of Vita and Virginia. The two companies have been working together over the past several years and have co-produced dinner theatre, desert theatre, poetry, play reading series and live radio re-broadcasts.

The menu for the dinner theatre includes:

Fennel-dusted Salmon served on Massaged Kale w/ Roasted Vegetables (GF)
Strip Steak w/ Smashed Potatoes and Roasted Vegetables (GF)
Stuffed Portabellas w/ vegan Risotto and Roasted Vegetables (GF)

All entrees served w/ salad and soup course, dessert, coffee, tea.
BYOB--glasses and opener available

Doors open at 6:30. Dinner will be served 6:30-7:30.

Show begins at 8pm, seating for show begins at 7:30. The ticket price for the show includes the beverage and dessert bar.

My soul is awakened, my spirit is soaring and carried aloft on the wings of the breeze."  Anne Bronte
