Happy 2016, Folks! Our first show of the year is a real a doozy. We're super stoked to welcome the amazing Strawberry Runners to the Ubi Room for the first time! STRAWBERRY RUNNERS
Strawberry Runners spins harrowing, confessional storytelling with catchy melodies into irresistible pop songs. With a reverence for humble roots in the DIY music community, and traces of 90's pop-punk grit, the outline of this Denver band begins to take shape. Their music weaves precise and elegantly constructed instrumentation through the evocative vocal melodies of songwriter Emi Night. Night composes powerful and poignant lyrics that conjure detailed portraits of her experience growing up in the Ohio River Valley.

Tackling dark personal experiences including familial abuse, violence, abandonment, and sexual assault, through her songwriting Night is able to begin to articulate what was silenced in her childhood. "These stories are a vehicle for the some of the pain and love and wisdom that's been obscured by a lifetime of fear and secrecy. These songs try to give voice to my experiences as a child."

R.L. COLE
Colorado born and raised musician R.L. Cole sings stories and truths through traditional-leaning folk and blues songs about a rotating cast of larger-than-life characters, weaving their way through the darker side of life and losing it all along the way. Yet akin to the blues and the broken hearted, his lyricism conveys to us the beauty, hope and violence of his dark heroes and down-trodden rogues.
