Cider Chat: So You Want to Start a Cidery

If you have dreams of quitting your day job to make cider, this is your chance to learn how.

Meet the brains behind three recently launched local startups and hear how they made the leap without orchards of their own.

Alex Wilson from Wayside Cider left a filmmaking career last year to make ciders from wild and heirloom apples in the foothills of the Catskills.

After a decade of working in the wine industry as a beverage director and portfolio manager at Skurnik Wines, Leif Sundström of Sundström Cider in Milan, NY moved to the Hudson Valley to apply his knowledge to cidermaking and will release four 2015 bottlings next spring.

You don't even need to move out of the city to make cider, NYC-based Descendant Cider is the city's first licensed hard cidery pressing Hudson Valley apples. Husband and wife team Jahil and Alex will be present to share their expertise.
