Baltimore-based instigator Ric Royer (founder of Performance Thanatology Research Society) returns to New York in collaboration with OBIE-winning sound artist G. Lucas Crane (This Was The End) to present a beauty pageant/fashion show a monstrous parade of internal realities fueled by sacrifice and thrusting labor, exploitation, and sexual/economic oppression onto the catwalk. Braiding pleasure and the abject and spiking it with a heavy dose of buffoonery, the dream pageant aims to entertain, amaze, and delightfully frustrate. As in every city where the show is produced, locals are invited to participate as contestants in the pageant. But the experience is so much more than a normal beauty pageant (if there is such a thing). Miss Chthonic is a stress dream ripping down into the "underworld" suggested by the Greek-rooted title. THE PSYCHIC READINGS COMPANY formerly known as Performance Thanatology Research Society is dedicated to the advancement of a higher histrionics through exaggerated examples of life and death. It features members from three New York experimental theatre companies: Title:Point, Object Collection and the Performance Thanatology Research Society.
