In It To Win It
IN IT TO WIN IT is the story of an awkward, clueless girl named Coree who wins a generous settlement from her employer, decides to pursue acting and quickly becomes a regular at local casting agency Vemcor. Along the way we meet her beer-guzzling landlord, who helps Coree on her misadventures; her arch-nemesis, Brian, who never met a role he couldn't land; and a cavalcade of other bizarre characters including a masseuse with a killer choke hold, a sinister teddy bear, a talking banana and a British casting agent with a penchant for wild tigers.
THE CREATOR: IN IT TO WIN IT is the brainchild of comedian Coree Spencer (San Francisco SketchFest, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, host of Comedian on Comedian) whose career began over ten years ago in Portland as a writer and performer with the sketch group Homeless Corner (featured on the Upright Citizens Brigade website, ucbcomedy.com). She has since gone on to be a hot new voice on the San Francisco stand up scene.
THE PLAYERS: IN IT TO WIN IT features a scene-stealing supporting debut by Rob Campbell, local cult Boiler Room KJ and long-standing Cinema Queso sketch comedy member. Sean McGrath, star of LiveWire! Radio and supporting actor in Everyman's War (2009) and Twilight (2008) plays Brian, Coree's main competition. Veteran Portland actors Todd Robinson and Richard Topping also appear along with The 3rd Floor sketch comedy troup players Ted Douglass, Jason Rouse and Andrew Harris. Rylee Newton of Comedy Central's Premium Blend delivers a hysterical performance as a chatty masseuse whose effort to relieve Coree's tension causes serious nightmares.
THE CREW: First time Director and Co-Executive Producer, Nell Constantinople (National Geographic Films), assembled a team of over forty talented local crew members to assist the eight week production. Multi-talented Director of Photography, Supervising Editor, and Co-Executive Producer Jay Cornelius (Faculty at The Art Institute of Portland, founder of Green Street
Pictures) brings years of experience working behind the lens as a freelance videographer and editor for A&E, The History Channel, PBS and National Geographic. The result is a colorful tapestry of funky interiors, single-camera handheld street scenes and outlandish flights of fantasy spotlighting Portland's thrift stores, main streets, dive bars and eccentric characters. The beautiful opening animation was created by animator and actor Melik Malkasian.
This screening will be hosted and viewed by the cast and crew that created the project (over 40 people!) and the rest of Portland on only one night before it hits the internet!
