Drinkers & Thinkers: Julie Conway & Jana Howard

September 15th - Seattle Design Week is here and at Nordo's Culinarium Julie Conway, local artist and owner of ILLUMINATA ART GLASS DESIGN LLC will share her design insights with Vito's bartender Jana Howard. Julie's first molten blob of glass was formed in 1997, and from there, she never looked back. Her years of apprenticeship with international glass masters forged her dedicated studio practice using traditional techniques with a contemporary design aesthetic. She specializes in custom art glass lighting, and site-specific architectural installations. Jana fell in love with adapting cocktails 4 years ago. The process of taking a base spirit and blending it with ingredients to bring out elements of its production, such as complementary botanicals in a gin and a dry vermouth, creates a cocktail with harmony, structure and intrigue.

The conversation will center on elements of design. Our Guest Bartender Jana will blend together 3 cocktails for the audience to enjoy over the course of the talk.

The conversation will be moderated by Jennifer Navva Milliken of the Bellevue Arts Museum.
