The Taming of a Shrew
Bad Quarto Productions, a theatre company specializing in performing modern theatre using Shakespearean staging techniques, will stage The Taming of a Shrew, the earliest printed version of Shakespeare's famous Shrew play. Printed in 1594, The Taming of a Shrew dates from the earliest moments in Shakespeare's career as a writer and actor, when the man we all know simply as "the Bard" was a relative newcomer to the London theatre scene of Renaissance England. Though it precedes the more commonly known version (from the 1623 First Folio) by almost 30 years, The Taming of a Shrew is a version of the shrew taming play that was shockingly progressive for its time, and that answers many of the concerns of modern Feminist critics.
The Taming of a Shrew will play at Studios 353 (353 W. 48th St., New York) from October 24th through November 8th on the following days and times:
Saturday, October 24th: 8 PM.
Sunday, October 25th: 8 PM.
Friday, October 30th: 8 PM.
Sunday, November 1st: 8 PM
Monday, November 2nd: 8 PM ("Industry Night" with discounts offered for performing arts professionals)
Friday, November 6th: 8 PM
Saturday, November 7th: 8 PM
Sunday, November 8th: 2 PM
The house opens 20 minutes before curtain times, andThe Taming of a Shrew has an approximately 90 minute running time. Come early and enjoy live music performed by the cast.

Of The Taming of a Shrew, Tambasco says "A Shrew interrogates the explicit misogyny of The Shrew by making Kate a consensual participant in her own taming. Kate tells the audience in an aside she wants to make sure her would-be husband is man enough to make her act like a proper woman, which removes the taming plot from the realm of domestic abuse and, along with the indefinite article of the play's title, raises a further question of who is taming whom."
