NO FALSE NOTE

September 29th AT 7PM

Music and visuals have always been important for each other, and especially so in animation. It's only natural that animation has become a sought-after medium for music videos, and that music often plays a crucial role in independent animated shorts. This program shows off some of the most intriguing and inventive music-based films to come out of the Pacific Northwest.

Empress of the North

Drew Christie
Seattle, WA
2010 - 4 min

Animated by local artist Drew Christie, this video for "Empress of the North" for the band Moondoggies, shows us the powerful magnetism of desire as one lonely man tries in vain to rescue a still-beating heart from the ocean floor.

And She Was

Jim Blashfield
Portland, OR

Symbolism and a cheeky wit populate this xerographic music video for Talking Heads, and it would lead Jim Blashfield to work with the likes of Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell and Michael Jackson.
