L'Alliance française de Toronto et le Spanish Center vous invitent à découvrir le groupe Cuarteto Habanero (Guaracha Y Son) accompagné de la chanteuse Kristina Bijelic le vendredi 6 novembre, pour une authentique représentation de la culture et de la musique cubaine.

Cet ensemble de musique cubaine traditionnelle est le dernier projet du légendaire Roberto Riveron, joueur de basse, lauréat d'un Grammy, compositeur, arrangeur et producteur, qui s'est uni avec le célèbre flûtiste Jorge Maza,  le joueur de bongo Rosendo Leon Sr et le joueur de guitare PablosKy Rosales. Le résultat de cette combinaison de talents est un quartet énergique qui joue un large éventail de standards cubains et de classiques des années 40 et 50 que l'on considère toujours comme l'âge d'or de la musique cubaine dans le monde entier. Cet ensemble a aussi bien  impressionné les critiques que le public à travers tout le Grand Toronto avec ses superbes interprétations de thèmes musicaux classiques, de standards de jazz et même une certaine musique pop contemporaine adaptée au groove contagieux de la Guaracha (d'où leur nom de scène). La musique de Guaracha Y Son est aussi bien un plaisir pour ceux qui aiment danser le mambo et le cha-cha-cha que pour ceux qui préfèrent écouter. Avec une haute estime du sens de la musique, cet orchestre entraîne le public à un amusant et beau voyage sur l'Île de la musique ; l'endroit où tant de rythmes qui ont changé le spectre musical de l'Amérique Latine et du monde ont été créés.

Pour cet évènement, le groupe sera accompagné par la chanteuse soprano Kristina Bijelic. Canadienne d'origine serbe, Kristina a poursuivi ses études à l'Université de Toronto et au Berklee College de Valence, Espagne. Elle a eu l'occasion de chanter avec le Canadian Children's Opera Company et le Serbian Heritage Academy of Canada.

Alliance française de Toronto and the Spanish Center invite you to discover Cuarteto Habanero (Guaracha Y Son) and the singer Kristina Bijelic on Friday, November 6, for an authentic representation of the Cuban music and culture.

This traditional Cuban music ensemble is the most recent effort of legendary Grammy award winning bass player, composer, arranger and producer Roberto Riveron, who joined forces with the renowned flutist Jorge Maza, bongos player Rosendo Leon Sr and tres/guitar player PablosKy Rosales. The result of this combination of talents is a high energy quartet that plays a vast array of Cuban standards and classics from the 1940's and 50's which is still considered the golden era of the Cuban music all over the world. This powerful ensemble has also impressed the critics and the most sophisticated audiences all over the GTA with their beautiful renditions of classical music themes, Jazz standards and even some contemporary pop music adapted to the contagious  grooves of the Guaracha and the Cuban Son, hence the name of the band. The music of Guaracha Y Son is also a real treat for those who like dancing Mambo and   Cha- cha -cha as well as for the listener. With a high level of musicianship, this band engages the audience in a beautiful and entertaining trip to the Island of the music; the place where so many rhythms that changed the musical spectrum of Latin America and the world were created.

For this special event, the band will be performing with the soprano Krisitna Bijelic. Canadian with Serbian origins, Kristina has completed a master's studies at University of Toronto and at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain. She had the opportunity to performer with the Canadian Children's Opera Company and for the Serbian heritage Academy of Canada.
