Benefits Massachusetts Peace Action Education Fund; part of the Music for Peace Series. Single concert seats $25 in advance for Mass. Peace Action members, $35 for non-members, $10 for students, $35 at the door. Series of 3 concerts: member $65, non-member $80, student $25. Write check to "Massachusetts Peace Action Education Fund" and mail to 11 Garden Street, Cambridge, MA 02138 or purchase online.

There are no physical tickets. Those who reserve are placed on a will-call list.

The audience is invited to join the musicians and Peace Action members at a reception after the concert.

Soovin Kim

Soovin Kim is the first violinist of the Johannes Quartet, an ensemble that has performed newly commissioned works by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Derek Bermel, and William Bolcom. He also arranged for and performed the premiere of Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer's string trio in 2007. Equally gifted in concerto, recital, and chamber music repertoire, Kim has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Orchestra of St. Luke's, Stuttgart Radio Symphony, Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, Accademia di Santa Cecilia Orchestra, Moscow Symphony Orchestra, and Seoul Philharmonic. He has given solo recitals at New York's Weill Hall, the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater, Ravinia, Tokyo's Casals Hall, and the Seoul Arts Center. He is an active participant in the Marlboro Festival.

Gloria Chien

Picked by the Boston Globe as one of the Superior Pianists of the year, " who appears to excel in everything," pianist Gloria Chien made her orchestral debut at the age of 16 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has appeared as a soloist under the batons of Sergiu Comissiona, Keith Lockhart, Thomas Dausgaard, and Irwin Hoffman. She has presented recitals at the Alice Tully Hall, Jordan Hall, Gardner Museum, Phillips Collection, Caramoor and Verbier Music Festivals, Salle Cortot in Paris, AlpenKlassik in BPT_buy_tickets_large[;1];Germany and the National Concert Hall in Taiwan. An avid chamber musician, Gloria has been the resident pianist with the Chameleon Arts Ensemble of Boston since 2000. She has recorded for Chandos Records, and recently released a CD with clarinetist Anthony McGill. In 2009, Gloria launched String Theory, a chamber music series in downtown Chattanooga, as its Founder and Artistic Director. The following year, she was appointed Director of the Chamber Music Institute at the Music@Menlo Festival by Artistic Directors, David Finckel and Wu Han. A native of Taiwan, Gloria is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music (DMA '04, MM '01, BM '99) where she was a student of Russell Sherman and Wha-Kyung Byun. She is an Associate Professor at Lee University in Cleveland, TN, and is a member of Chamber Music Society Two of Lincoln Center. Gloria is a Steinway Artist.
