Quadravibe: Jazz & Winetasting
The long-awaited reunion of several of Alameda's jazz greats will take place on Thursday, July 28th. With Kathy Moehring at the helm, the band features Kelly Park on Keyboards, Mike Shiplet on Drums, Clinton Day on Electric bass, Bob Brumbeloe on Guitar and Kathy Moehring singing her heart out.
Kelly Park: Keyboards Kelly is a professional pianist, drummer, arranger, and composer. His background is mainly in the jazz and popular music field, with a Bachelor's of Music in Jazz Composition and Arranging from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he was also a faculty member, teaching harmony, theory, and arranging. Kelly is a music producer and many of the albums he has produced (and arranged or played on) can be viewed on his "Discography". Kelly works as a Musical Director for singers, notable Shawn Ryan Russ Lorenson, and is currently the "House Musical Director" for the Rrazz Room. Kelly was the Musical Director for the Rrazz Room Anniversary show on March 17, 2009 which included such notables as Rita Moreno, Sally Kellerman, Petula Clark, and Paula West.
Mike Shiplet: Drums Mike Shiplet played drums and percussion for 13 years studying music at The University of North Texas. In 1984 Mike quietly took a 25 year sabbatical. In 2009, Mike started playing again. Originally, on his return to music, he played percussion w/ Jamey Pike and Patrick Smyth in the Beer Detectives. Mike later played w/ singer/song writer Clara Belino, piano wizard David Krull and his band, Gypsy Fire, bassman James Whiton, and now with Kathey Moering, The Plastic Fauxno Band, and Geno Pollio and The Headbone. Mike's strongest influence throughout his career has been the New Orleans Funk sound and he incorporates that feel into both his drumming and percussion.
Clinton Day - Electric bass Clinton began studying music at Columbia College in California in 1982 with Dr. Rod Harris. He finished his studies at San Jose State University in California, receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1987, and earning his Master of Arts Degree in 1990.Clinton has been primarily a bassist for the last 25 years, but is also a jazz pianist, arranger and vocalist. He has taught music at UC Berkeley, De Anza College, and Columbia College where he was a sabbatical replacement for Dr. Harris. Clinton lived in Paris, France in 1999 and performed in jazz and rock groups.
Clinton is currently a music instructor at Berkeley City College, Contra Costa College and Mission College where he teaches Jazz Piano, Jazz History and is an accompanist for the performing groups on campus. He also is the bassist for the Mic Gillette Band, a funk band featuring horn driven funk and R&B.
Bob Brumbeloe: Guitar Bob has been Playing Guitar 35 years. Mostly Jazz. He also plays brazilian music, classical guitar, R&B, Blues, and salsa. He's played gigs with James Moody, Ernie Watts, Charles McPherson, Harold Land, Bud Shank, George Cables, Richie Cole, John Handy, Mel Martin, Mark Levine, Kenny drew Jr. Currently, Bob works around the Bay Area with, Singers Margie Baker, Sandra Aran, Emily Ann Reed,Rebecca Bendham. He is associated with JimPassard and the Lost Cats, Daniel Heffez and Nova Jazz, John Moriarty and the Ritz Calton hotel bands, the Silver Moon band. His current steady gig is every Friday and Saturday at the Silverado Resort in Napa.
Kathy Moehring: Vocals Kathy studied theater in her hometown of New York City and performed on many stages off Broadway to off-off-off Broadway. Kathy was a regularly featured performer at Alameda's former jazz club Kelly's on Park, sang in many community events and entertained audiences at numerous venues in the Bay Area, including: The Empire Plush Room, Forli's, Club Paradiso, The Woodminster Theatre, Theatre Rhinoceros, American Cancer Society at Golden Gate Park, Weddings (and funerals).
