Taking listeners to a place where gutbucket blues, hillbilly music, and backwater gospel come together in powerful and unexpected combinations, The Tarbox Ramblers are left-field traditionalists whose rough-hewn, direct sound has drawn raves from fans and critics alike.

Driven by the barbed-wire guitar of band leader Michael Tarbox, incredible fiddling, and an explosive rhythm section, The Ramblers' immediacy puts them at the forefront of the contemporary roots scene.The band's first shows were an extension of late night jam sessions at Tarbox's cramped apartment in Boston's Mission Hill neighborhood. Making the transition to clubs, the band's no-holds-barred approach left delighted, exhausted audiences in its wake.

The Tarbox Ramblers' debut album, a busting-at-the-seams exploration of old American songs full of raw, fresh arrangements and white-lightning joy, caught listeners by surprise. The band followed up with A Fix Back East, a collection of hypnotic originals that extended the band's range into rock territory.

Wherever the sound takes them, The Ramblers (string bassist Scott McEwen, drummer Robby Cosenza, guitarist Michael Tarbox) are never too far from the backwoods music that first brought them together. It's tough music, with plenty of room for love and loss, sin and salvation. It's what the Ramblers play, raw and real, night after night.
