Central Jersey Choral Society Presents Elijah: An Oratio by Felix Mendelssohn
***Tickets will be available at the door if the online ticket purchase window has closed!***
The Central Jersey Choral Society (CJCS) is pleased to announce that we will be presenting Mendelssohn's oratorio Elijah in two Sunday afternoon performances around central New Jersey in May and June 2015. The concert will feature Harold Wilson (Bass) in the title role.
"Elijah is truly Mendelssohn's masterpiece," said Christopher Loeffler, Artistic Director of the Central Jersey Choral Society. "Mendelssohn takes the oratorio form and elevates it to a level of drama that no composer has matched since the time of Handel."
Bass Harold Wilson is in demand across the country on operatic and concert stages alike. This year he debuts with Opera Colorado in their productions of Die Zauberflöte and Aida. He also returns to the Metropolitan Opera for his seventh season covering Timur in Turandot. Harold has sung with Opera Philadelphia, Santa Fe Opera, Sarasota Opera, Tulsa Opera, Minnesota Opera, Madison Opera, Birmingham Opera, Dayton Opera, Memphis Opera, and Lyric Opera of Kansas City. He spent the first five years of his career at The Deutsche Oper Berlin where he sang over thirty leading and supporting roles. This summer, Harold can be heard at Carnegie Hall this summer as the Bass Soloist in Mozart's Requiem.
