TE AMO JAZZ
The new Te Amo Jazz music concert series with TEATRO Si strives to celebrate the best of Jazz fusion performance that comes to us from various regions of Latin America. Outstanding professional artists will present their talents to a New Jersey audience at monthly concert performances that demonstrate the spirit of the young and established Latin American musician. A special inaugural Te Amo Jazz concert event comes to the intimate Rahway ArtHive Art Gallery venue, located at 1495 Main Street in dynamic downtown Rahway, NJ on Saturday, November 13, 2010. The in demand original Argentine fusion jazz sounds of the Emilio Teubal and La Balteuband quartet will take the stage at 7pm and promises to be a memorable experience for the music lover.
La Balteuband is an instrumental ensemble led by pianist Emilio Teubal. His compositions are a blend of jazz and elements of Argentine music, such as rhythms like chacarera and zamba along with the lyricism of tango melodies. La Balteuband's music consists of rhythmically and harmonically rich pre-composed structures and improvised sections that highlight the musicality of each member of the band. This is what makes each performance of the group so fresh and special. Emilio Teubal, Argentinean, born in Spain, has lived for almost a decade in NYC where he earned a BFA in jazz performance from the City College of New York graduating Magna Cum Laude. He has been awarded with the prestigious Meet The Composer's Van Lier Fellowship 2007. He has also performed in some of the most prestigious jazz clubs in NYC such us Blue Note, Birdland, Sweet Rhythm, Dizzy's Coca Cola Club, Joes Pub, Cornelia Street Cafe, 55 Bar and The Knitting Factory among others. Emilio has been a member of different New York based music ensembles such as Sebastian Cruz's Coba, Los Chantas Tango Group, and the Marta Gomez group, with whom he has toured the USA, Mexico, Spain and Argentina. The members of La Balteuband consist of Emilio Teubal (Argentina): piano, Franco Pinna (Argentina): drums, Julio Botti (Argentina): saxophone and Moto Fukushima (Japan): electric bass. Seating is limited. Reservations are recommended.
We hope you will join us often during the year on the second Saturday of the month to celebrate the arts in a unique setting. We recommend that you consider enjoying a fine meal before or after the concert at one of several diverse restaurants in arts orientated downtown Rahway. Most are located within a short walk from the gallery. Proceeds from each event benefit in part theatrical programming efforts at TEATRO Si, a 501(c) 3 New Jersey not for profit corporation.
