Essential Elements of Acting: It Takes Two- Working with a Partner
What are the benefits of inter-dependence in an independently-focused society?
How can I succeed onstage by making my partner look good?
There is an art to working with one other person on a project, in a personal relationship, audition or performance. At various times a partner may act as a mirror, a foil or teammate. Discover partnering skills that will help you better communicate kinesthetically and verbally. Learn to advocate your ideas and listen to your partner without stress. Explore a variety of approaches common to foolsFURY training including scene study, improvisation for speech and movement, weight sharing, theater games, song and dance.
About the Instuctors:
Josiah Polhemus is a member of foolsFURY and a noted writer/director/teacher/producer who grew up in Palo Alto. He has an MFA from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, where he co-starred with William Hurt in Good. He has appeared in over fifty plays and won Best Featured Male Performance for his portrayal of George Deever in Arthur Miller's All My Sons, Days of Our Lives and The Tracey Ullman Show. Josiah has taught theatre in schools, colleges and community organizations. He is also an award-winning filmmaker.
Deborah Eliezer, Education Director of foolsFURY Theater, native to San Francisco, brings over 15 years of professional training to her teaching. An actor, choreographer, and professional voiceover, she teaches all over the Bay Area in private organizations, schools and universities and maintains a private coaching practice in Berkeley and San Francisco. Her voiceover work has been featured on CNN, NBC3 News, the LA Times, and the New York Times.

In this series, foolsFURY member instructors will focus on an Essential Element of Acting about which they're passionate. Explore theater improvisation games, vocal training, song and spoken word. Gain expressiveness, expand self-confidence and learn how to make strong choices in performance and in personal communication. Learn serious skills and have serious fun.
