Race, Equity and Social Justice: Addressing the Realities of Youth and Families of Color
Mentoring Works Washington is offering a two-day cultural competency training for working with under-represented youth and their families.

Workshop Description
What role should our work play in creating racial equity and social justice in the communities we serve? In a post-Ferguson world, our young people are increasingly conscious of the role race plays in their lives.  Our organizations have the potential to help youth navigate the world around them and to change that world so that it is more supportive to those youth. This workshop will help participants explore approaches to creating racial equity and social justice for youth and their community. Participants can expect:
To deepen their understanding of how race and culture impact the experiences of the youth we serve, their families, and their communities.
To learn strategies for productively addressing implicit bias and systemic inequality.
To receive guidance and support for making changes within your organization that will lead to more effective approaches to building racial equity and social justice.
To sustain change efforts after the completion of the workshop, all participants will be invited to join in monthly webinars facilitated by the workshop presenters.
