The historic landmark Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall(ACFL&MH) is a significant Civil War destination. It is home to the Captain Thomas Espy Post No. 153 of the Grand Army of the Republic, as well its new Lincoln Gallery. The latter is a collection of 100 photographic portraits of the sixteenth President of the United States.
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War and of Lincoln's assassination, the ACFL&MH presents the stirring 1999 Broadway musical "The Civil War." The Tony-nominated musical has a score by Frank Wildhorn and book and lyric by Jack Wildhorn, Gregory Boyd and Jack Murphy.
"The Civil War" combines historic figures such as Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass with fictional characters to explore the searing drama of the defining chapter in our nation's history. A cast of 50 singer/actors performs music that incorporates gospel, folk, rock and country motifs.
The Espy Post and Lincoln Gallery will be open free of charge one hour before each of the performances of the Civil War.
Tickets are non-refundable. They may be exchanged for a different performance of "The Civil War."
JUST ADDED! Due to the overwhelming response from interested students, we will offer a special student rate for the Sunday performance only. Students 13 and over may purchase tickets for $15 with school ID. Tickets must be purchased at the box office on Sunday, one ticket per student, and subject to availability.
