Awaken Dance Theater Anniversary Gala

Come and see Awaken Dance Theater in it's first year Anniversary Gala Performance! The company, which had it's first studio showing in late January of 2014,aims to make bold statements on social and political issues through dance. Using a variety of styles and techniques, we want to inspire the audience and community at large to think more about the topic being presented, and to take action if they are so inspired.

Three of our recent works addressed racism and interracial relationships, gun violence and the tragedy of school shootings, and addiction to technology including smart phones and social media.

This particular performance will include all pieces in the Awaken Dance Theater repertoire to date.

Dancers come from all over the world, including the USA, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, and France, and have trained at such prestigious academies as the Ailey School, the Joffrey Ballet, and the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow, to name a few.

Again, the performance is on February 7th at 8:00pm at the Ailey Studios, located at 405 W 55th Street in Manhattan.
