Eric Hunicutt Workshop: Start in the Moment, Stay in the Moment

A Scenework Workshop

Building a strong scene is deceptively simple; from the very first moment, everything we need is available, yet often times we feel the need to invent rather than discover. This workshop focuses on being present right from the start, using the first thing that happens, and working together to build relationship, character, and context in an organic and efficient way. If you find yourself playing the scene you think you should be in, rather than exploring the scene you already are in, this class is for you!

Raised in Raleigh, NC, Eric began performing professionally at age 15 with the improv theatre Comedy Sportz. After receiving a B.A. from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he moved to Chicago where he trained and performed at the famous Second City and Improv Olympic theaters. Additionally, Eric acted, wrote, and directed scripted theater and sketch comedy throughout Chicago. Eric is a member of the renowned Chicago ensemble The Reckoning, called "hands down the best in Chicago", which tours across the country to festivals, colleges, and theaters.

Currently, Eric is an actor, director, writer, and teacher based in Los Angeles, and can be seen in commercials, television, and film, as well as onstage at the iO West (Improv Olympic) Theatre, where he is a member of the faculty and the former Director of the iO West Training Center.

Eric has directed shows at the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theater (LA & NYC), The Second City (Chicago & LA), The Comedy Central Stage, iO West, and the L.A. Comedy Festival. He has worked as a consultant with DreamWorks, CBS, and MoveOn.org.

Eric has taught across the country (and Canada, too!) at universities, theatres, improv and comedy festivals, and currently teaches at iO West, Warner Loughlin Studios, the American Academy of Dramatic Art Los Angeles, and is
a faculty member at Steppenwolf Classes West.
