Vincent Van Gogh is known today as a great artist, troubled and tortured but prolific and revolutionary. His death in 1890 has been reported as suicide with a pistol for the past 125 years. Recently, there have been reports countering this accepted explanation. His death could have been from another cause, for another reason. "The Final Days of Vincent Van Gogh" explores the course of Vincent's tumultuous life as revealed through his memories during his last days in Auvers, France, elicited by a pseudo-psychiatrist, Dr. Gachet. His internal struggles, his wandering, his intense loneliness, his relationship with his brother, Theo, and his parents, the mutilation of his ear, explain much about his great art and the course of his life. His demise remains a mystery, but perhaps a set of events dramatized in "The Final Days of Vincent Van Gogh" might shed light on an alternative theory and why the rumors of suicide still persist.
