Bob Hammer Trio with Ray Price and Chris Clark.
(OVER TWO HUNDRED YEARS EXPERIENCE!!! [don't tell em I said that...please])
Ray Price (drums) was born and raised in Birmingham, England and began playing drums at 13 years of age. He began playing semi professional at 16, which seemed natural cause his dad Frank Price was a drummer. After a stint in the Army he began playing pro in England for greats such as Tubby Hayes, Don Randel and Johnny Patrick. Since moving to America in 1957, Ray has played for and with: Skinnay Ennis; Bob Hope; Jane Mansfield, Barbara Eden, Frank Sinatra, Bernadette Peters, Rosemary Clooney, Dick Haynes, Paramount Pictures - The Lucy Show starring Lucille Ball (1963 - 1966); Lionel Hampton, Stan Kenton, George Shearing, and perhaps his biggest honor played with Oscar Peterson and is featured drummer on Oscar's "Walking the Line" and "Another Day" albums.
Bob Hammer - is among the very best in the Pacific Northwest. His illustrious musical career has brought him extended stays in New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and finally Seattle. As a piano player and arranger, Bob's resume reads like a "who's who in jazz." He has performed and arranged for Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton, Red Allen, Charlie Mingus, Eddie Condon, Jimmy McPartland, Johnny Hartman, Ben Webster, Woody Herman, Clark Terry, Jimmy Knepper, Joe Williams, Barbara McNair, the Tommy Newsome Quartet, the Merv Griffen Show, and the Jerry Lewis Telethon.
While in New York City, Bob composed the musical score for the television documentary "The Tunnel '63." During this time he played piano and wrote musical arrangements for the Charles Mingus big band. Many of Bob's arrangements can be heard on Mingus' recordings. In his Las Vegas days, Bob wrote arrangements for many musical productions at the major entertainment venues throughout the area. Also, while in the Los Angeles area, Bob taught jazz piano at El Camino College. In 1995 Bob relocated to the Pacific Northwesttolivecloserto his family. He currently keeps a full schedule performing and writing arrangements for a variety of musicalorganizations in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and the greater Seattle area.
Chris Clark - had the opportunity to take advantage of a highly developed music program in the secondary school system. While continuing on at Santa Monica City College and Los Angeles City College, he was able to work with many established artists including Anita O'Day, Les McCann, Joanie Sommers, and The Jerry Gray Orchestra. At the age of twenty he joined the Les Brown band and spent the next three years on road trips, Christmas USO tours with Bob Hope, and working with Jerry Lewis in the original filming of the popular movie comedy, "The Nutty Professor." Chris then worked a three-year stint with jazz pianist Calvin Jackson, broadening his experience by doing radio and TV jingles, working as a CBS TV staff musician, performing live radio remotes all while playing six nights a week with Calvin at night clubs throughout Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. Chris went on to work as personal accompanist to Vic Damone, Della Reese, and Jim Nabors. He also worked for Red Norvo, Stan Kenton, Chris Conner, and Patti Paige. In 1977 Chris left Los Angeles, relocating to Orcas Island, Washington. He has continued to perform with some of the best musicians in the Pacific Northwest, including Joe Massters, Marius "Butch" Nordal, Brian Nova, Fred Radke and Gina Funes (twelve years at the Four Seasons Olympic Hotel), Primo Kim, Trish Hatley, Jim Day, Floyd Standifer and of course, Bob Hammer. In Chris' own words, "there is no question that working with Bob in the Pampas Band at El Gaucho for the last three years has been one of the most enjoyable gigs of my career."
