Shitty Barn Sessions No.1: Josh Harty

The Sh*tty Barn Sessions proudly presents JOSH HARTY, June 16, 2010. 6 pm

Come one, come 80! An intimate, integrated and shitty event that will put Madison-via-North Dakota's Josh Harty in your lap for an evening of singin', songwritin' and maybe even some story tellin'. Open Grill at 6 pm (BYO Grillables, we'll provide condiments and paper plates). Show starts at 7 pm and features either two shorter sets or one long one, whatever Josh decides. Lights out at 10 pm. Then to The Shed, not bed!!!

$10, in advance either at brownpapertickets.com or at The General Store (extra tix sold at door day-of, capacity 80). Your ticket gets you a cup to fill with FmB and a seat on the cold, hard barn floor (brink a blankie, stadium seat or a chair if you wish). Family friendly - kids 6 and older, please.

The third generation of musicians out of the Dakotas, Josh Harty is never far from his roots but always inventing new ways to honor the old. His latest solo project, "A Long List of Lies" (Magnolia Recording Co.) shows it and has garnered a fast following. The eleven tracks are as authentic as American music gets. Maybe that's why "Long List of Lies" debuted at #8 on the European Americana Chart. Growing up the son of a North Dakota Police Chief and preacher, Harty figured he was either to jail or going to hell. By the age of ten Harty had sung gospel and country with his father at "just about every Lutheran Church, Eagles Club and Senior Center in North Dakota." By age 12 Harty had made two records with his dad, selling 10,000 copies combined. "A Long List of Lies" was produced, recorded and mastered in Madison's Smart Studios. The project captures Harty's clean guitar attack, a finger style that glistens with a razor's edge.
