FIRST FRIDAY Music Series @ Galeria West with EDWIN VAZQUEZ
Since the inaugural concert in the summer of 2009 hundreds of music lovers have enjoyed the FIRST FRIDAY Music Series , presented by TEATRO Si at the intimate Galeria West Art Gallery in downtown Westfield, NJ. This once a month live concert event continues to bring to the area a unique opportunity to enjoy a diversity of music genres as performed by a select series of renowned artists.
The FIRST FRIDAY events continue on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 7pm with talented singer/guitarist/composer Edwin Vazquez. Born in Santurce Puerto Rico and raised in Park Slope Brooklyn, New York, Edwin's musical style is a fusion of Rumba, Flamenco, Bolero and Bossa Nova, with a mixture of Jazz and R&B elements sung in both the Spanish and English languages with a unique blend of original lyrics. Edwins talents have landed him on recordings and shows like the Spanish WXTV Channel 41s mega popular show called Sabado Gigante in Miami, Florida hosted by Don Francisco. Edwin also performed regularly with the group True Image for the live audience at The Bill Cosby Show and has performed in venues like Lincoln Center's Merkin Concert Hall Theatre, Cami Concert Hall, Webster Hall, The Gershwin Theatre, The Sugar Bar owned by Ashford & Simpson where he shared the stage with Tito Puente Jr., Teatro Puerto Rico, S.O.B.s and many more. Aside from performing Edwin has also developed significant recordings and has written for very influential names like Grammy award winning producer Edwin Ramos from Records on the Evolution of Dance album. In addition, Edwin's recording experiences consist of work on the Songs of the Cape Man C.D. for legendary singer/composer Paul Simon which included legendary artists Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades, Danny Rivera and Ednita Nazario. Edwin was also interviewed on 105.9 F.M. LatinoMix by Diamond Boy Luis Torres for his original c.d. entitled Faith and dedicated to the memory of Edwins father, Roberto Vazquez. It has been recognized in numerous publications including Canales, El Impacto, Hoy, El Diario and El Mundo. "The best way I know how to love is through a song" says Edwin Vazquez.

Most are located within a short walk from the gallery. Proceeds from each event benefit theatrical programming efforts at TEATRO Si, a 501(c)3 New Jersey non-profit corporation.
