The Trilogy Begins
Agamemnon is Chapter One of Jeremy Menekseoglu's Agon Trilogy.
The Greeks have been triumphant in the Trojan War and are now returning home with the spoils. The great General Agamemnon sets his sights on Cassandra, the Trojan Princess cursed with the power to see the future but which no one ever believes. He finds her in the temple of Athena being molested by one of his soldiers. After rescuing her and having her tormentor executed, Agamemnon imprisons her on his boat, claiming to want only her gratitude. What follows is a harrowing story of betrayal, barbarity and banishment to the monkey house.
Chapter Two: Electra continues the story on May 6
The Final Chapter: Orestes concludes the story on July 8

Writer Jeremy Menekseoglu was recently asked to describe the 2010 Greek Trilogy:
One of the things that we fell into while working with our style was the reimagining of Greek Theatre. Greek Theatre is such an incredible place to play in because it too sits on the line between fantasy and reality. You can slip in and out at will. More importantly, the stakes are unbelievably high. The tragic heroes are filled with such wonderful human flaws that can only really be explored when you get to play them on such a gigantic level.
Weve worked inside a new type of Greek Theatre Universe for a long time now and its interesting to see how it continues to develop. In our world, the rules of Greek Theatre are the rules of life. Chorus are a type of mindless being that appears out of nowhere whenever they get a whiff of tragedy. Death should happen off stage not to spare the audience, but because if the Chorus see blood they go into a frenzy. The Audience is a mystical being that is safe from the tragedy, but are higher than any god. The gods are lunatic in their desires. We are doing an entire trilogy this year which is something that I never expected. First is Agamemnon, but nothing like what you may be use to. This one has only two characters in it and takes place during the events that lead up to the more familiar play. What these two characters go through together is some of the most difficult events I have ever had the pleasure to work on. Next is Electra, although ours takes place at a shelter for wayward Chorus members who, after whoever they were following is now dead, have nowhere else to go. This play explores the tumultuous relationship between a mother and daughter. Finally, Orestes. This one takes place almost entirely in hell and follows Electras desperation as she tries to rescue her brother from a fate worse than death. This one almost wraps up our Greek plays completely.
