RUFUS REID
In addition to a lifelong career on the jazz bandstand, Rufus Reid has become one of the premiere educators of the last thirty years. His commitment to education and communicating the history of jazz is second to none. Indeed, it is hardly possible to separate his exuberance on the bandstand from his work as an educator, and his performances and lectures serve this common goal. Rufus Reid has spent a large portion of his career advancing jazz education. His passion for the music and his unique method of teaching and relating to various age groups makes him very special. He has inspired students to perform beyond their own expectations. Reid continues to work with The Jamey Aebersold Jazz Camps, The Stanford University Jazz Workshop, The Richard Davis Foundation for Young Bassists, and Ravinias Steans Institute for Young Artists.
CAELAN CARDELLO
Born into a musical household in Teaneck, New Jersey, Caelan Cardello began playing piano at the age of five. By the age of ten he was studying both jazz and classical separately with jazz pianist/arranger Allen Farnham and Juilliard alum, Steven Masi. Throughout his middle and high school years, Caelan had the opportunity to perform for or play with jazz idols such as Christian McBride, Jimmy Cobb, Ravi Coltrane, Ingred Jensen, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Brad Mehldau, Wynton Marsalis, and Teanecks own Jon Faddis and Freddie Hendrix. He was a part of the organization Jazz House Kids for seven years, where he learned from the greatest jazz masters and perform at venues such as Dizzys Club and the Montclair Jazz Festival. Caelan has also performed at venues in NYC such as Smoke Jazz Club and The Jazz Standard, as well as the Detroit Jazz Festival, Bahrain Jazz Festival and Montclair Jazz Festival. Other accolades include 2021 winner of the BMI Foundations Future Jazz Master award, 2018 recipient of the prestigious James Moody Scholarship, winner for regional National YoungArts, and 201617 All State Jazz Band pianist. Caelan recently finished his Jazz Performance degree at William Paterson University. He studies privately with saxophonist Vincent Herring, guitarist Russell Malone and pianists David Kikoski and Bill Charlap, and has previously studied with Mike Ledonne, Geoff Keezer, Harold Mabern and Kevin Hays.
ARUAN ORTIZ 3pm
Pianist Aruan Ortiz has been called one of the most creative and original composers in the world." Since his arrival in the United States, Aruán has played, toured, and recorded with jazz luminaries such as Wadada Leo Smith, Don Byron, Greg Osby, Wallace Roney, Nicole Mitchell, Cameron Brown, Michael Formanek, William Parker, Adam Rudolph, Andrew Cyrille, Henry Grimes, Marshall Allen, Hamiet Bluiett, Oliver Lake, RufusReid, Graham Haynes, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Nasheet Waits. He has also collaborated with choreographers Jose Mateo, Danis Mora, and Milena Zullo; filmmakers Ben Chace, Mariona Lloreta, and Monica Rovira; poets Abiodun Oyewole from The Last Poets; writer/poet/ filmmaker Mtume Gant; DJ Logic and Val Jeanty Inc.; and renowned German writers Angelika Hentschel and Anna Breitenbach. Aruáns pianism has been lauded as a solid and unique new sound in todays jazz world. and his albums have been featured in major publications worldwide, including JazznMore Swizerland, The Guardian UK, Expresso, The New York Times, DownBeat, JazzTimes, Jazziz, The Boston Globe, Rolling Stone Magazine, Billboard, San Diego Union Tribune, All About Jazz, US, Jazzpodium, Musica Jazz, Il Muro Magazine, Il Corriere della Sera, Jazz Halo, The Ottawa Citizen, and The Irish Times. Aruán holds an MFA in Music Composition by Vermont College of Fine Arts (VCFA) and has received numerous accolades including South Arts Jazz Road Creative Residency Grant (2021), Jazz Coalition Commission Grant (2020), Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant (2019); the Composer Fellowship Award at Vermont College of Fine Arts (2016); the Doris Duke Impact Awards (2014); the Jerome Foundation Travel & Study Grant (2013); Latin Jazz Corners Arranger of the Year (2011) for his contribution on the album, El Cumbanchero by flutist Mark Weinstein (Jazzheads, 2011); Jas Hennessy Piano Solo Competition, Montreux, Switzerland (2001); and Best Jazz Interpretation, Festival de Jazz in Vic, Spain (2000).

Eric Robert Lewis, popularly known as ELEW, is an American Concert Pianist who has found crossover success playing rock and pop music. He is known for his unconventional and physical playing style, which eschews a piano bench and includes reaching inside the piano lid to pull at the strings directly, as well as the creation that he calls Rockjazz, a genre that takes the improvisational aspect of jazz and threads it through the eye of the needle of rock. Lewis began his career as a jazz purist, playing as a sideman for jazz artists like Wynton Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson, Elvin Jones, Jon Hendricks, and Roy Hargrove as well as performing as a member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. However, he eventually became interested in rock music and embarked on a solo career as a crossover musician, quickly gaining recognition for his instrumental Rockjazz piano covers of mainstream rock hits like The Rolling Stones Paint It, Black and The Killers Mr. Brightside. He released his first album of instrumental covers, entitled ELEW Rockjazz Vol. 1, on his own label, Ninjazz Entertainment, in March 2010. His distinctive style has helped him to amass a large following of celebrity fans, including Barack and Michelle Obama (for whom he has played at the White House), Leonardo DiCaprio, Donna Karan, Téa Leoni, David Duchovny, Hugh Jackman, Forest Whitaker, and Gerard Butler. Throughout his career, he has performed with musicians such as Sting, The Roots, Natalie Cole, and Robin Thicke. ELEW has been awarded The Novus Award at the Headquarters of the United Nations for contributing music and art to the world. Nowadays, you can find ELEW being a highlight of the party anywhere from Sundances Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival for Elton Johns Rocketman, The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, DJing at various nightclubs, playing piano at ultra-exclusive private parties or even playing to a song written by the IBM super computer, Watson.

Born in 1960 in Paris, now an American citizen, self-taught pianist and composer Jean-Michel Pilc has performed with numerous jazz giants: Roy Haynes, Michael Brecker, Dave Liebman, Jean Toussaint, Rick Margitza, Martial Solal, Michel Portal, Daniel Humair, Marcus Miller, Kenny Garrett, Lenny White, Chris Potter, John Abercrombie, Mingus Dynasty & Big Band, Lew Soloff, Richard Bona etc. He has also worked with Harry Belafonte, as his musical director and pianist, and has performed a duet with the legendary opera singer Jessye Norman.

Rachel Z is a keyboardist with a long history of award-winning performances in the worlds of jazz and rock. In addition to her 13 albums as bandleader and her work in internationally acclaimed bands such as Steps Ahead, Vertú, the Omar Hakim Experience, and OZmosys, she has played and toured with artists like Wayne Shorter (on the Grammy-winning album High Life), Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Terri Lyne Carrington, Al Di Meola, and Regina Carter.
Omar Hakim is one of the most successful drummers and session men of the past forty years. Widely acclaimed for his versatility, technological prowess and groove, he has collaborated with artists ranging from Miles Davis to Madonna, and has left his imprint on hundreds recordings including several under his own name.
