Improv for Empowerment - Wednesday - June/July 2020 ONLINE CLASS
ALL SUMMER CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS ARE NOW ONLINE DUE TO THE SHELTER IN PLACE ORDINANCE.

Improv for Empowerment
This class teaches improv through the lens of confidence building and empowerment. Student will learn the basics of creating theater in the moment, and learn strategies to help bring their brightest, most confident, and authentic self not only onstage, but also at work, and in their day-to-day life.

Instructor Bio:
Sheri Flanders is a comedian, actor and writer whose work as a humorist, journalist, and theater critic has been featured in publications such as McSweeneys, The Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Reader, Rescripted, Chicagoland Musical Theater, PerformInk, Windy City Times, and the Chicago Defender. Sheri has performed for the Engaging Women Conference, been a guest on Vocalo Radios Morning Amp Council of Feminist Thought show, and was a panelist for the Inside Jokes Comedy Conference hosted by Women in Comedy. Sheri is the perkier half of the interracial, married comedy duo FLANDERS, head writer for Choice The Musical, and an instructor in The Second City's musical improv and A-E programs. Sheri is co-owner of Flanders Consulting, is represented by NV Talent, and holds a bachelors in Fashion design, as well as any cat that will let her.

The course is founded on the comedy principles of the critically acclaimed Lincoln Lodge, a national leader in cultivating and developing new comedy talent. Join one of Chicago's top writers/performers, Sheri Flanders for a course in improv offered by the locally and nationally revered Lincoln Lodge, Chicago's top stand-up and variety showcase.  

The five weekly 2 hour sessions of this course will focus on:
Identifying  and Reframing Self-Critical Word Choices
Key Movements: A Body Language Study
Redefining Self
Character Identification
The Power of Making Others Shine

The class requires no previous performance or writing experience and culminates with a presentation of the material developed in class. Grad show date TBD upon reopening of The Lincoln Lodge Training Center which is currently closed due to the Illinois Shelter In Place Policies


Class Schedule is as follows -
Wednesday, June 24th  at 7:00 pm (CST US)
Wednesday, July 1st  at 7:00 pm (CST US)
Wednesday, July 8th  at 7:00 pm (CST US)
Wednesday, July 15th  at 7:00 pm (CST US)
Wednesday, July 22nd  at 7:00 pm (CST US)


Grad show date TBD upon reopening of The Lincoln Lodge Training Center which is currently closed due to the Illinois Shelter In Place Policies. Following guidance from the City of Chicago with regards to the current Corona Virus situation and with concerns for the health and well being of our patrons, performers and staff The Lincoln Lodge will be closed until further notice.


All students will receive an email no later than one day prior to their class start date which will include a Zoom link and all information on how to access this online class.

REFUND Policy: Full refunds are available any time up to 5 days  before the first class commences. Refunds after that time are at the course administrator's discretion.

ROLLOVER Policy: If you are not able to participate in class after registration and the refund window has expired you can potentially roll your registration over to the next course session provided space is available. This is subject to course administrator's discretion and a $40 administration fee. Please note there is NO facility to rollover classes once you have attended ANY classes.
