Événement

LGBTQ AF
LGBTQ AF is a live comedy show featuring the best LGBTQ stand-up, storytelling, sketch and improv performers in the DMV area. Rising LGBTQ talent is also spotlighted.

The amazing performers at our August show are:

Kevin McLain
Shawn Banks
Maddox Pennington
Adrienne Picciotto
Kam East
Beverly "Miss Chocolate" White
Chris Hook
Kristin O'Brien
Caroline Howe
Ryan
Winged Wombats

Produced and Hosted by Ryan McClure

Performer Bios:

Kevin McLain

Inspired by topical late-night hosts and scathing insult comics, Kevin occupies a unique space in the DC comedy scene. A former-Republican-turned-practically-Communist potty-mouth, he has won crowds over with his hilarious allusions and references to gender, race, sexuality, class, and politics. He has described his style of comedy as "Imagine Trevor Noah...but as a big gay slut."

Shawn Banks

Shawn Banks' performance motto is: "I'm equal parts sassy and stupid."

Maddox Pennington

Maddox Pennington is a nonbinary writer and comedian, author of A Girl Walks Into a Book: What the Brontës Taught Me About Life, Love, and Womens Work. When they're not teaching college writing, they perform comedy all over the DMV including the DC Drafthouse,  DC Arts Center, Busboys and Poets, and many of DC's finest dive bars.

Adrienne Picciotto

Adrienne Picciotto is a DMV, LGBTQAI+, LOA (lover of acronyms) comedian who performs all around town as both a solo comedy act and as a member of various improv troupe ensembles. She's currently on the teams Laundry Day and improvgurl94 - both teams will make you pee your little pants (with joy). You can follow Adrienne on Twitter @motherpurresa

Kam East

Kam East has ten thousand followers (you should become one! @kameastcoast) and is planning to release a comedy album.

Beverly Miss Chocolate White

Beverly "Miss Chocolate" White has been a comedian all her life. Making people laugh at themselves makes her laugh her head off. She has wanted to be a comedian for as long as she can remember, but didnt want to go against her parents wishes and "make a fool of yourself." When she got older and they were no longer here to tell her what to do, she said, "what the heck, I'm going to make people laugh before they start laughing at me." She knew this is what God wanted her to do - to make His people laugh.

Since then she has performed up and down the east coast; from DC to New York, from Baltimore to Philly, and from Atlanta to Memphis. She has been invited to speak at numerous motivational conferences concerning self-esteem in young people and her greatest passions - speaking on Women's Heart Health, LBGTQ Advocacy, and Domestic Violence Awareness. With her comedy shows, she has raised money for various causes such as HIV/AIDS, Domestic Violence and the Angel Tree Project- a non-profit organization for children whose parents are incarcerated. Her philosophy on life is: "it's just comedy - life is hard enough."

Chris Hook

Chris Hook is a DC based comedian originally from Kentucky who finds humor in daily life.  Forever a joiner, you can find him at his office book club, condo association, running club, alumni association chapter, or employee engagement groups, whenever he's not glued to his couch watching television and wondering why he isn't training for a marathon.

Kristin O'Brien

Kristin O'Brien is a Washington, DC based comedy writer and performer who studied improv under Caroline Pettit, Kate Symes, Alex Bellisle, Jaime Moyer, and many more. She formerly performed with the Washington Improv Theater (WIT) Harold team Diviglio. She is currently performing with, and a founding member of, the longest running all-female DC improv team The Quitters. She is currently stage manager for the WIT special project show In Lieu of Flowers which is returning to the stage this fall.

Caroline Howe

Caroline is an improviser, entrepreneur, educator, and stand up comedian. She's a climate activist, social justice activist and a pleasure activist (credit to Adrienne Marie Brown). She wears so many hats, you can never see her real hair, which is a shame since its fabulous.

Ryan

Ryan is an improv duo comprised of Ryan McClure and Ryan Alloway. They spill the t, and aren't afraid of being burned.

Winged Wombats

Winged Wombats is an improv troupe formed during the 2019 Fighting Improv Smackdown Tournament at Washington Improv Theater.
