Be-Well-Together Series
Second Growth Counseling Presents the Be-Well-Together Series at Lents Fair!
A free, full & fun lineup of drop-in mental health workshops every hour of the fair! This series celebrates the strength, courage and collaboration of our community. We can make our greatest impact when we can be well together.
All workshops are facilitated by professional, board-approved, local mental health counselors. Get to know a therapist during a workshop and see if they could be a good fit for the growth you or your family want to work towards.
Space is limited! Tickets are free but pre-register and reserve your seat. On-site signup will be available for any remaining seats at the Second Growth Counseling booth during the fair.
Be-Well-Together Series:
11am - Co-Parenting 101: What counselors want you to know for raising resilient kids. -Navigating family transitions can get overwhelming, tough and exasperating. We'll explore strengths and strategies for recalibrating through the changes in roles and relational dynamics so kids have an environment thats healthy, healing and feels like home to them.
12pm - How Are You Doing?: A Self-Care Sensory Station Experience -Drop by during the hour and take a few minutes to care for yourself. We'll have a variety of different experiences to help you figure out what calms and centers you. Activities will include music, art, and snacks. All ages are welcome!
1pm - Handling Hot Potatoes: How to approach tough topics and courageous conversations with your kids. -Whether it's talking about the birds and the bees, sharing hard news like disease or divorce, or answering tricky questions about complicated subjects like religion and spirituality, many of us have some anxiety or a sense of inadequacy about how to handle these critical parenting moments with grace, wisdom, and good humor. Lets talk about how we talk - and help each other imagine new ways to engage with these challenging situations and come away feeling more connected.
2pm - Exploring the Mind-Body Connection -Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected to our physical bodies- from our heads to our toes. We'll learn how some of the latest science helps us better understand how are minds and bodies are connected, and we'll practice breathing and movement exercises to help you move through difficult moments.
3pm - How to Build Positive Parent-Child Communication -Gain insight and tools to build a foundation for lasting and supportive communication. *Resolve family conflicts in a peaceful manner *Cope with negative feelings, such as anger and disappointment *Encourage warmth, love and care in everyday interactions.
