A Forest of Flutes

Song of the Angels Flute Orchestra, directed by renowned composer, arranger and conductor Charles Fernandez, presents "A Forest of Flutes" concert. This concert features acclaimed tenor Egan C. Carroll performing Charles Fernandez arrangements of 2 Puccini arias, La Boheme's "Che-gelida-manina" and Turdandot's "Nessun Dorma" plus an original composition of Fernandez' for tenor and Flute Orchestra named "Soulmate Found." Also featured is SOA flute soloist extraordinaire Michelle Van Kempen with a very impressive performance of Rick Pierce's arrangement of A.F. Doppler's "Fantasy Pastoral Hongroise." Youll also enjoy a real crowd pleaser, a tongue-in-cheek piccolo duet performed masterfully by Deborah MacMurray and Lisa Norton, arranged again by Charles Fernandez, H. Kling's "Two Little Finches" - and yes, 2 piccolos can actually sound quite awesome together! Additional selections include Johann Strauss, Jr.'s "Die Fledermaus Overture and a 5 minute arrangement by Judy Nishimura's of Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition." Exciting world premiere performances of Johanthan Cohen's impressions of Iceland named "Land of the Arctic Fire" and Fernandez' "Forest Stories." This concert is not to be missed! Area flutists are invited to join the orchestra on our closing number of "Basin Street Blues."
