TURNABOUT: THE STORY OF THE YALE PUPPETEERS
Northwest Puppet Center is pleased to present:
TURNABOUT: THE STORY OF THE YALE PUPPETEERS
Join us for this screening of a documentary film about Harry Burnett, Forman Brown and Richard Brandon who began their professional and personal relationships together in 1927. The Yale Puppeteers toured the nation, worked in film and established The Turnabout Theater in Los Angeles. Turnabout featured a stage for marionettes on one end of the hall and a stage for variety acts on the other (the audience would turnabout during intermission). They entertained Einstein, collaborated with Elsa Lanchester and introduced Odetta to the stage. Don't miss this documentary about these fascinating lives and all the stars they encountered.
Before or after the film, make sure to take a look at the current exhibit at Northwest Puppet Center. Several of the original marionettes by The Yale Puppeteers are currently on display!
Special thanks to the filmmaker, Dan Bessie, for granting Northwest Puppet Center permission to screen this film.
Duration: 1 hour
Please note that Puppeteers of Puget Sound will be holding a meeting after the film. Members of the general public are welcome to stay for the meeting if interested in learning more about our puppetry guild which is a local chapter of Puppeteers of America.
