Hazel Miller Band with special guest Chris Daniels
Senior CommUnity Care PACE presents Age Out Loud featuring Hazel Miller Band with special guest Chris Daniels for a fundraiser concert to benefit Senior CommUnity Care PACE's One Simple Wish and Outdoor Adventure programs! Donny Morales a local favorite will entertain at a pre-concert in the Pavilion lobby while concert goers can shop the silent auction selection.
Hazel Miller is not just a great singer; "She is a force of nature!" quotes the Rocky Mountain News. Her voice has been called "stunning, moving and powerful." Hazel has been a sought after performer in Colorado for the past 24 years. The current Hazel Miller Band has been performing for 6 years all over Colorado and nationally. Ms. Miller and her band were voted "Best R&B" Band for 2017 by Westword magazine. Whether she is singing blues, jazz, pop, or Gospel, her voice charges the songs with a primal dose of genuine soul.
The beloved Colorado funk and blues band Chris Daniels and two of his musicians will be the evenings special guest star of the evening. Chris Daniels and the Kings perform more than 120 dates per year. Chris was inducted into the COLORADO MUSIC HALL OF FAME in 2013 with Judy Collins and he has appeared with the Garth Brooks, B.B. King, Vince, Gill, Amy Grant, Joe Walsh, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, John Oates, The Lumineers, Uncle Cracker, Blues Traveler, The Neville Brothers, and the list goes on. Chris was also nominated for his writing and performance with Al Jarreau, Hubert Laws and Dee Dee Bridgewater on Jumpin Jazz Kids. Chris performance will take an already high energy evening over the top.
Donny Morales is a local guitarist, vocalist, and harmonica player hailing from Montrose Colorado. Donny has been entertaining crowds around the Western Slope for over 20 years with his unique selection of covers and original tunes.
All proceeds go to funding the One Simple Wish program and the Outdoor Adventure program as part of Senior CommUnity Care PACE's programming. The One Simple Wish program allows chronically ill and financially disadvantaged older adults to request funding for experiences that will enhance their lives. In 2018, eleven wishes were granted in Montrose and Delta counties and several more are scheduled. We reunited family members, took others sky-diving and hot air ballooning and bought a gravestone for a seniors son grave that had gone unmarked for 18 years. The Outdoor Adventure Recreation Therapy program allowed older adults to stay actively engaged socially and enjoy the outdoors. In 2018, our participants went boating on Blue Mesa Reservoir, went jeeping to see fall colors and went on an overnight trip via the Silverton-Durango narrow gauge train. For many of these older adults, these are experiences of a lifetime and allow them to feel fulfillment in the midst of illness and financial hardship.
Pre-concert event will include a silent auction, music by Donny Morales, cash bar, and food trucks Blue Ribbon BBQ and Surfin' Salmon.
If you or your business would like to help sponsor this event, please contact Lori at 970-417-5670 or llenhart@voa.org
Pre-concert and silent auction begin at 5:30PM with The Hazel Miller Band at 7:00PM.
