An Intimate Evening of Storytelling & Songs with Ike Reilly
Story Lab Chicago and This Much Is True are thrilled to present this special event.

Ike Reilly is one of his generation's finest songwriters, a charismatic performer, and an incredibly gifted musician, but more than anything, he is a peerless storyteller.

Reilly's stories, both spoken and in song, are often touching, frequently hilarious, and always memorable.

Join us in the cozy confines of a legendary Chicago pub for a special evening of acoustic music, and the stories around, behind, and within the songs. This is a rare opportunity to share an intimate experience with Ike, and the atmosphere will be closer to spending the night at the bar with a talented friend and his guitar than a traditional concert.

BIO:
Ike Reilly is one of Americas best contemporary songwriters. Since the the former gravedigger and hotel doorman made his major label debut in 2011 with the groundbreaking Salesmen and Racists, he has been making punk/folk/blues influenced rock n roll records that lean heavily on stories of outsiders with keen details and broad strokes that insinuate a crack in the American dream.

Reillys band, The Assassination, has been called one of the best live bands in America, and the body of recorded work theyve turned out has been poetic, rebellious, wholly original, and critically acclaimed.

David Carr of the New York Times said, Ike Reilly is a kind of natural resource, mined from the bedrock of music. All the values that make rock important to people  storytelling, melody, rage, laughter  are part and parcel of every Ike Reilly show I have ever seen. One of the best touring acts in the country, Reillys band takes it as a personal challenge to upend and amaze every room they play in.

Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, the Nightwatchmen) said, Theres something in the water in my hometown of Libertyville. Marlon Brando, Adam Jones of Tool, my humble self, and now Ike Reilly. Ike is not just a great, authentic songwriter of the highest caliber but hes always ready to throw down at a union rally  or a bar fight. Ikes songs are a poetic cracked window into the lives of the heartland heroes trying to get by, find and keep love, and carve a place for themselves with humor and dignity.

THIS MUCH IS TRUE is Chicago's longest running monthly storytelling series, since 2008, and STORY LAB CHICAGO has put 600+ new and first time storytellers on stage since 2011.
