Beer Mitzvah, a Jewish beer fest
Did you know most beer is kosher by default based on the ingredients? The one catch is that not all breweries can have a rabbi regularly supervise the production for an official designation, but the majority of beers can be considered "kosher-style" if they do not contain lactose, fruit or fruit syrups. Therefore, here's another excuse to drink beer! Let's celebrate craft beer coming of age (just humor us) at a "Beer Mitzvah" on Sunday, April 28, from 1:00 - 5:00 pm, at Temple Israel in Alameda, CA.
Breweries scheduled to participate are:
Altamont Alameda Island Brewing Ale Industries Crooked City Cider Faction Federation Independent Maui Brewing Oakland United OldKan Original Pattern Shadow Puppet 2 Towns Cider
Special Demo Participant: Admiral Malting/The Rake.
Pending: Maui Brewing
Your eyes are not deceiving you; this is an incredible line-up and we at Temple Israel feel VERY fortunate. Your entry donation includes unlimited pours to taste some incredible beer, as well as some very popular, locally-crafted hard ciders. Attendees vote for their favorite beer at the event in a contest to determine "The Chosen One."
Entry fee is a flat $36 so you do not have to keep going back to a cashier to buy more beer tickets. Space really is limited so buy today.
Jewish music, food, activities and a bake sale will be on hand. Come hang out at this truly unique event.
Your donation supports Temple Israel's school and programs as it begins to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2020. Yes, a Jewish synagogue has been in Alameda since 1920; come check it out! www.templeisraelalameda.org.
You do not need to be Jewish to attend. =)
Mazel Tov to these breweries!
