A perennial favorite, the Summit Avenue Garden Stroll, returns Sunday, June 30 from Noon to 4 p.m. Ticket holders explore one of our country's most magnificent stretches of urban green spaces as well as a stroll through a variety of historic Summit Avenue gardens.
Ticket prices: Purchased in advance, $10 for the Garden Stroll and $15 on event day.
Exchange your online receipt for a paper ticket that includes the map at a check-in table in Overlook Park, 418 Summit Avenue. All the gardens are marked with hanging flower baskets at the sidewalk, and are located between 301 Summit and 1190 Summit.
Garden strollers are encouraged to park their cars and walk to the featured gardens. Ample free parking is available along the avenue. Twin City Pedicabs will also be in the area eager for your business!
Proceeds from this years event will support the neighborhood groups efforts to preserve the historic residential and urban, park-like character of Summit Avenue. The featured gardens are all within a 1.5-mile stretch to make it a walkable event. Special features include a splendid formal French garden inspired by the manor gardens of Villandry in Loire, France, a fanciful English garden and an extensive community garden sponsored by House of Hope Presbyterian Church, another church garden featuring a large rain garden with all Minnesota native plants, and a former golf course club house, now a private residence. You won't want to miss this year's selections!
The Summit Avenue Garden Stroll will be held rain or shine. Watch for more details the gardens at www.sarpa.org and on our Facebook page. The Summit Avenue Residential Preservation Association sponsors the Stroll and is proud to be recognized as the Nations Best Intact Street from the Victorian Era, by the American Planning Association.
