Chuck Perkins (Small Talk From St Claude and St Roch)

Chuck Perkins

Chuck Perkins is a Jazz Poet, orator, narrator, and activist who infuses the rhythms and vernacular from the Crescent City into his musical spoken word pieces. British music writer Garth Cartwright refers to Chuck Perkins as "the spiritual offspring of Gil Scott-Heron." Chuck has opened internationally at Londons prestigious South Bank Center for poetic icon Amiri Baraka. He has performed in Santiago, Cuba and many cities in Europe including Paris, Toulouse, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Cambridge, Berlin, Munich, and Amsterdam.

Courtney Bryan

Composer and pianist Courtney Bryan never followed the most straightforward path to artistic success. Drawing mostly from jazz but also incorporating experimental music, gospel, classical and R&B, her work defies easy characterization. While some of her compositions have been religious, she describes her music as bridging the line between the sacred and the secular, and her art also unflinchingly explores historical themes and political issues. As she composes each fearless piece of music, she follows her own truth, her own journey.

Brian Quezergue

Brian Quezergues introduction to music began as child while accompanying his father, legendary composer and arranger, Dr. Wardell Quezergue, on various performances and recording sessions. Although never forced to play an instrument during childhood, from his father Brian garnered a love for music and learned the importance of diligence, practice, and the knowledge of ones instrument. Due to this early exposure, no prodding was necessary; Brian decided to become a musician.

Initially Brian studied the piano, but later became enamored with the bass guitar. His formal training began in 1993 at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and the Jazz and Heritage School of Music where he was instructed by some of New Orleans most respected and accomplished talents such as Clyde Kerr Jr., Edward Kidd Jordan and Elton Heron. During Brians tenure at NOCCA, he was given the esteemed opportunity to play alongside his mentors. Concurrent to this scholastic period, his persistence and hard work paid off as he was offered and accepted the position of the primary bass player for his fathers band, The Wardell Quezergue Orchestra.

Antoine Drye

Having graduated from North Carolina School of the Arts (HS diploma - 1990), University of New Orleans (BM - 1995) and Aaron Copland School of Music (MM - 2005) gives Antoine Drye an impressive list of academic institute credentials. Yet, its his on-the-job training that has most significantly shaped his playing and career.

Throughout his 25-plus years career, Drye has worked across musical genres with a wide range of artists including his mentors Ellis Marsalis and Harold Battiste, Delfeayo Marsalis, Jason Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Wessell Anderson, Brian Blade, Victor Goines, John Boutte, Kermit Ruffins, Henry Butler, Valery Ponomarev, Daniel Lanois, Wilson Pickett, Houston Person, Tim Warfield, Mark Gross, The Count Basie Orchestra, Donald Harrison, Lafayette Harris, Paul Simon, David Torkanowsky, Jesse McBride, The Brand New Heavies, Mike Longo, Mark Whitfield, Donald Edwards, Taylor Mac and Justin Vivian Bond, among many others.

Nell Simmons

Music has been her lifetime companion, from touching souls with her soaring vocals in the church to performing at events throughout New Orleans as well as New York. Nell Simmons has opened for artists like Avant, and performed on world-class stages and events such as the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Nell is preparing her first EP which is set to release in 2019. Her current music is soft and vulnerable. As she continues her journey, she hopes to inspire artists to display their own True Talent and natural ability.
