The Fremont Tour July 2019
Welcome to Fremont, Center of the Universe,
That is the Fremont District of Seattle. Do a search of "Center of the Universe" and Google Maps will land you right here in our neighborhood.
Fremont is the bohemian section of Seattle. It is located 4 miles from the downtown core, just north of the Fremont drawbridge. It has a world class collection of quirky public art. Our guided walking tour promotes this public art with a distinctly Seattle story.
People in Fremont are called FREMONSTERS. Our motto is De Libertas Quirkas which in bad Latin means "the freedom to be peculiar." We relish this reputation of being a little on the odd spectrum.
Our 80 minute program is very interactive as we participate in an "ART ATTACK" with the sculpture WAITING FOR THE INTERURBAN, fire a 47 foot tall rocket (which is aimed at city hall) and meet the Fremont Troll's cousin under the Aurora bridge. These are just some of the fun things that happen on The Fremont Tour, A Street Theater. Along the way we playfully invite strangers in the street to help tell our story of how these 8 quirky pieces of art came to be in the neighborhood. Afterwards you can visit the local shops and cafes along the canal or wander through the Fremont (European style) Sunday Market.
Our mission is to encourage people to find their playfulness through art and history. Come experience Fremont with a FREMONSTER!!
