Book Club with special guest Evan Stepp & The Piners!!
Hey Everyone! As we close out our amazing 2018, we are thrilled to announce that we'll be hosting Book Club with special guest Evan Stepp & The Piners! You won't be disappointed with these two Atlanta based artists, as they're two of our favorite here at the Nance Life Lounge. Each ticket is $25, and they include two bands, food, and beverages. We'll have plenty of spirits and beer to share, but feel free to bring your own if you're unsure of what we'll have! Also, please wear an UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER to the party!! The band will be giving out prizes to the winner!!
According to Paste Magazine, Book Club's "down-home Americana and country-infused pop shine through"
Singer and songwriter Robbie Horlick's laid back voice, emotive and winsome, alternately evokes a shimmery pastoral beauty and deep shades of despondent darkness. Book Club's impressionistic lyrics don't specifically describe events as much as arouse emotions. The music press took notice with Book Club and their music, with NYLON writing "heart-wrenching lyrics with rich, gorgeous melodies...haunting and wintery...folk at its best." On Book Club's ethereal yet riveting new third LP "Dust of Morning", the melodies and tempos never feel rushed. Rather, the songs beckon the listener to float, drift, and dream along with the set's predominantly acoustic instrumentation. Book Clubs evocative sound is the perfect embodiment of the old Joni Mitchell line: "Every picture has some source of light."
Evan Stepp & The Piners: Formed in the Summer of 2018, Evan Stepp & The Piners deliver a unique brand of country music rooted in earnest songwriting and dynamic delivery. Having waded in many different genres of music and songwriting, Evan found his footing while living in Charlotte, NC and co-fronting the Alt-Country outfit Pullman Strike. After moving to Atlanta, GA in 2015, Evan continued writing and curating his songs until the right group of folks came along to help bring these ideas to fruition. Enter, The Piners. The Piners consist of Jeremy Ray (Anchor Bends, Carolina Highway) on bass, Ben Jordan (Slow Fire Pistol, Gordon, Antpile) on lead guitar, Blake Hall (Slow Fire Pistol, Gordon, Antpile) on drums, Katie Butler (W8ing4UFOS, The Chumblers) on keys/viola/harmonies, and Steve Seachrist (The Chumblers) on pedal steel/harmonies. None of the people in my band had ever really played country music, per se, says Stepp, but they have a real love for the genre, a yearning to play it, and a willingness to go outside their comfort zones that make writing with them a really unique experience. I couldnt think of a better group of folks to be playing music with. Catch Evan Stepp & The Piners at a venue near you and watch as they embrace their love for classic country while maintaining a healthy dose of rock n roll. like a crowbar wrapped in gold leaf. Bill Taft (Smoke, W8ing4UFOs)
