Walking down the street, sitting on the train, waiting in line, etc. -- public space is a platform for sexual harassment. International director, choreographer, and documentary theater maker Jesca Prudencio explores the layered experience of the victim around the moment of attack. Developed through a series thirty interviews, NOHING is a documentary dance theater work that shares the unsettling experiences of women and female identifying individuals ranging from Japan, California, and University Settlement community in New York City. Jesca and her company People Of Interest perform the victims' physical struggle to simultaneously protect, fight, and scream silently, like the strong yet still Noh spirits. Nohing intersects testimony, multimedia, chanting, and traditional Japanese Noh dance to explore the mask women wear to survive harassment.
